Printer won't print: fixes that actually work
Most printing problems come from the connection or a stuck print queue, not the printer itself.
- Make sure the printer is on, has paper and ink, and shows no error on its own screen.
- Turn off the printer and the computer, then turn them back on. Printer first.
- Check that the printer is on the same Wi‑Fi network as the computer. A new router or password disconnects it.
- Clear the print queue: Settings → Printers & scanners → choose the printer → Open print queue → cancel all documents.
- Make sure the right printer is set as default, not "Microsoft Print to PDF".
- If it still fails, remove the printer and add it again from the same screen.
MacOn a Mac: System Settings → Printers & Scanners. Pick the printer, clear its queue, and if needed remove it with - and add it again with +.
Important: If you downloaded a "driver" from a site that isn't the printer maker's, remove it. Install only from the manufacturer's official site.
